



Endocrinology
Professor Peter Trainer is a Consultant Endocrinologist with specialist clinical interests in adrenal and pituitary glands, including conditions such as acromegaly and Cushing's syndrome.
Professor Trainer graduated from Edinburgh, undertaking further training in London (St Bartholomew's Hospital), Aberdeen, Utrecht, Holland and Portland, Oregon, USA. He returned to Bart's as a senior lecturer, then joined The Christie Hospital as a consultant endocrinologist in 1998.
Professor Trainer remains heavily involved in his commitment outside clinical work through educating other clinicians and has authored over 150 peer reviewed publications. He is also a member and officer of many clinical bodies, e.g. Chair of the 2007 clinical programme of the American Endocrine Congress and of the 2007 programme organising committee for the European Congress of Endocrinology; Member of the senior executive committees of the European Society for Endocrinology, the American Endocrine Society and the Society for Endocrinology (UK); Chair of the European Society for Endocrinology education committee; Member of the editorial boards of Clinical Endocrinology, Growth Hormone and IGF Research, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Treatments in Endocrinology.
