



Orthopaedic Surgery
Professor Hakan Alfredson is a well respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with HCA Healthcare at The Princess Grace Hospital. He has a wide range of experience in all areas of orthopaedics but has a special interest in issues relating to tendons. He has been involved in developing pioneering treatments for chronic painful tendons
After qualifying with a Medical degree he completed an extensive training scheme in orthopaedic surgery. He continued his studies and was awarded a PhD in Sports Medicine from Umea University in 1997. Following this, he was granted an Associate Professorship in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in 1999, and a full Professorship in Sports Medicine in 2002. He has worked with elite athletes and teams during his career, including providing his expertise to the Sweedish National Junior Ice Hockey Team. He has been heavily published in his field, with over 150 articles in his name. He has made an international name for himself and is regularly a keynote speaker at conferences around the globe.
