



Oncology
Professor Gordon Jayson is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie and a Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Manchester. He specialises in gynaecological oncology with a particular interest in ovarian and endometrial cancer.
After studying Medicine at the University of Oxford, he undertook his medical and oncology training and PhD in Manchester. In 1997 he became a Senior Lecturer at The Christie and The University of Manchester. He previously served on Cancer Research UK's New Agents Committee, the Medical Research Council's Drug and Device Development Committee and the National Clinical Trials Committee. He is now Chair of Translational Research for the Medical Research Council ICON7 as well as the Manchester Cancer Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Board.
Professor Jayson is actively involved in research on the development and optimisation of anti-angiogenic (anti-blood vessel) drugs for the treatment of ovarian cancer. His work has been published widely in peer-reviewed journals and he has been invited to speak at international conferences on these.
