



Cardiology
Professor Eike Nagel is a Consultant Cardiologist working at London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital. He is a renowned opinion leader in cardiac imaging with over 25 years of experience.
Professor Nagel qualified in 1992 from the University of Cologne. He completed basic and specialist cardiology training in Kiel, Germany, Zurich, Switzerland and Berlin, Germany. He has worked at the Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland, the German Heart Institute in Germany and Guy's and St. Thomas' Trust in London, UK. Since 2015, he is the Director of the Institute for Experimental and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging at the University of Frankfurt am Main, Germany and the Clinical Lead of the Interdisciplinary Advanced Cardiac Imaging Service of the University Hospital Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
He has a particular interest in cardiac imaging with magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. He uses these techniques to diagnose heart failure, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies and unspecific cardiac abnormalities. Most recently, he has carefully examined the consequences of COVID infection on the heart.
He performs cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging to diagnose heart and vessel conditions in a non-invasive way, and he also developed stress tests for this. He has more than 350 publications and was previously the President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
