Professor Bernard Prendergast is a Consultant Cardiologist at Guys and St Thomas’ Trust and Director of the Cardiac Structural Intervention Programme. He trained in Cardiology in Cardiff, Paris and Edinburgh and undertook Consultant posts at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester and the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Professor Prendergast has been Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiovascular and Cardiovascular Intervention Societies, and Chairman of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Valvular Heart Disease.
Professor Prendergast sees patients with all aspects of cardiological conditions. He specialises in interventional cardiology and has a special interest in the epidemiology and treatment of valvular heart disease, ischaemic heart disease and infective endocarditis.
Professor Prendergast has a keen interest in research and has published extensively in his area of expertise. He is a national and international key opinion leader and frequently lectures in the Uk and abroad. Professor Prendergast is Course Director of EuroPCR London Valves, the world’s largest specialist meeting in valve intervention.
