Mr Khan is a Consultant General, Colorectal & Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgeon, with over 20 years of experience as a consultant.
He trained in South Manchester, Warwickshire, Basingstoke and London and spent time working as Resident Surgical Officer at the renowned St Mark's Hospital for Colorectal Diseases. Here he gained invaluable experience in management of Colorectal and pelvic floor disorders.
In 2005 he was appointed as a consultant at East Cheshire NHS Trust. He is the Clinical Lead for General Surgery and Colorectal Cancer. He was also established the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery at the trust.
Mr Khan has performed over two thousand keyhole hernia and gall bladder operations. He is a highly experienced clinical endoscopist, with a caecal intubation rate of 96%. In 2013, a NHS audit showed that Mr Khan's patient outcomes were among the top 10% of surgeons in the country.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Khan has a keen interest in research into colorectal cancer and keyhole surgery. He is regularly invited to present at both national and international meetings and has a keen interest in the teaching of trainees. He was a Mersey deanery tutor for speciality doctors and was heavily involved in establishing the MASNoW (Minimal Access Surgery North West) Society for Advancement of Keyhole Surgery in the North West.
