



Mr Syed Tahir Hussain founded and now maintains a major Vascular Unit which specialises in endovenous and carotid surgery.
Mr Hussain was born and raised in London and graduated from the University of London (now St. George's University) in 1987. Following the completion of his studies, he undertook surgical placements in St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, Norfolk & Norwich Hospital and Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. He then completed his higher surgical training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Mr Hussain is an expert in all types of vascular surgery and is able to skilfully perform a wide range of procedures such as local anaesthetic laser vein and thermal vein ablation for varicose veins as well as injection scleropathy. He is also skilled in providing treatment for arterial complications such as aortic aneurysm and carotid disease for stroke prevention.
Mr Hussain is passionate about education and is a keen teacher. He has been a tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons for over a decade and he regularly organises and manages courses for junior doctors and students who aspire to be future surgeons. His drive to help students is reflected in the way he approaches all of his patients and he is known to be both supportive and understanding in his interactions.
