



Plastic Surgery
Mr Simon Withey is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and he also sees patients privately, including at The Princess Grace Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic.
His specialist areas within plastic surgery are facial, breast, chest wall and abdominal wall reconstruction, skin cancer surgery and all areas of cosmetic aesthetic surgery.
Mr Withey graduated in 1984, undertaking his medical studies in London and continued with surgical training at a number of teaching hospitals. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1989 and England in 1990. He then undertook two years of postgraduate surgical research, attaining a Masters of Surgery degree. He trained in Plastic Surgery in London and passed the Plastic Surgery Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998. After completion of surgical training in England, he was awarded a travelling fellowship by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons and spent a year in Paris, gaining further experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He has been actively involved in Plastic Surgical research and has presented at national and international surgical meetings.
Mr Withey is on the academic committee of the European Course for Head and Neck Reconstruction, and teaches on the Paris course twice a year. He is a tutor on the European Microsurgical course in Milan and regularly teaches Plastic Surgery trainees at the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is also involved in improving and setting standards for plastic surgery and has provided expert advice in this regard to various regulatory bodies including the GMC, the MHRA and the CQC. He has given evidence to the House of Commons Health Select Committee, the Scottish Parliament and to an EU Parliamentary Committee. He is also the immediate past president of BAAPS.
