I was seen quickly when i discovered i had a problem with my gallbladder and a stone. Diagnosis was given almost immediately and a plan of action made. Mr Atkinson was very attentive and did an excellent job of curing me with a small operation. I felt better almost immediately and the healing process was very fast. Pain from the operation ... What Pain ? there was none. I certainly feel I found the best man for the job. My wife worried throughout (Thats natural). Mr atkinson spoke to her and put her mind fully at rest. This was all done during the Covid lockdown as well.

Mr Atkinson seems very experienced and was very detailed in his explanation of how procedures are done and what could go wrong. Unfortunately, he spoke to me in a patronising manner. With empathy you can discover your patients in the first 5 minutes of a consultation and adapt your approach. I would recommend him for his knowledge and experience but not for his human touch.

after a year of problems with my pancreas and pancreatic pseudocyst i was refered to Mr Atkinson, In my first consultation with him he explained all about what was happening with my pancreas and cyst in a way i could understand. Within a week of my first consultation he had booked me in to have my gallbladder removed. on the day of my operation he came to my room to explain exactly what was going to happen, this was all very well explained and made me feel at ease with what was going to happen. I stayed in London bridge hospital over night after my operation and the staff there was brilliant. I had a second consultation with Mr Atkinson a few wks after my operation where he explained what had happened during my operation and the results of what was found in my gallbladder. all this information was explained very well and I was able to ask question which he explained the answers to very well. Over all the experience was brilliant and Mr Atkinson was brilliant. I would highly recommend him. Many Thanks

    Gallbladder Removal (cholecystectomy)
From the moment I met Mr Atkinson I had complete confidence in him and was happy to proceed with the operation recommended (to remove my gallbladder). He was able to explain very clearly why the procedure was necessary, how it would be conducted, what the slight risks were and what measures needed to be taken prior to surgery. The projected recovery times were very clear and necessary absence from work, post operation. Mr Atkinson then came to see me in my hospital room, just prior to the operation, to reiterate the proceed and answer any questions I had. I had occasion to contact Mr Atkinson's PA, too, between the initial consultation and after the operation and found her to be very helpful and efficient. This was my first ever surgery and general anaesthetic and the whole experience greatly exceeded my expectations. After the operation, and when conscious again, I felt alert immediately and was in no pain, although I have medication in case this situation changes. I am due to have a final consultation with Mr Atkinson in six weeks but he made it very clear that I am welcome to get in touch sooner if I have any concerns. I hope this will not be necessary but I would have no hesitation in calling to arrange a sooner appointment, if relevant. Mr Atkinson has provided a letter for my own GP, fully outlining the circumstances that lead to my recent surgery and advising follow up action to monitor my blood pressure, which was observed to be high when my symptoms were first diagnosed. All parts of this experience with Mr Atkinson have been positive, I have full confidence in him and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

I felt very comfortable being looked after by Simon for my gall bladder surgery - the whole process from initial consultation and explanation, through the surgical procedure and the follow up consultation all went very smoothly and I could not have asked for a better level of service. I would have no hesitation in recommending Simon Atkinson in the highest terms.

My experience of Mr Atkinson is that he is an outstanding clinician and a deeply caring man. Throughout my treatment he has listened closely and attentively to my concerns. He has advised me carefully and thoughtfully - taking care to be realistic and open. I am fortunate that my treatment (including major surgery) has gone well. Mr Atkinson's skill as a surgeon has no doubt been an important factor in that outcome. I could not recommend him highly enough.
