



Plastic Surgery
Mr Shehan Hettiaratchy is a Consultant Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgeon based at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
After studying medicine at Trinity College, Oxford, he completed his surgical training in London, USA and Australia. He undertook a three year research fellowship in hand transplantation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine by Oxford University. In 2009 he was appointed as a Consultant at Imperial College London.
Mr Hettiaratchy specialises in all aspects hand surgery and complex extremity reconstruction. He has particular expertise in reconstruction of complex upper and lower extremity injuries, nerve injuries, infective complications and elective hand surgery.
He is actively involved in trauma research at Imperial. He has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored two textbook and numerous book chapters.
Outside of work he enjoys running and is a reservist with the British Army.
