Mr Ramar, Consultant Laparoscopic Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon, is a highly competent surgeon with over 20 years of experience in general and laparoscopic surgery. He is currently situated at King’s College Hospitals with a specialisation in elective bariatric and upper GI surgery. He has previously worked in many NHS Trusts including several London trusts, Scotland, Doncaster, and Bournemouth.

Mr Ramar’s work mainly focuses on primary and revision bariatric surgery and benign upper GI surgery (like laparoscopic bile duct exploration). Most of his day is spent performing key-hole surgeries like gallbladder removal and hernia surgery. He attends a weekly bariatric multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and is the lead for EGS UGI pathways. Currently, he works with the Surgical Ambulatory Emergency care to improve the delivery of this care.

Mr Ramar has a significant research history with a large number of publications in well known medical journals. He is actively involved with the GLIDE trial performing laparoscopic gastric banding surgeries. As well as involving himself in several other large studies like BARCODE and BARIDEP. He continues to contribute to the education of trainee doctors by holding several educational roles. He currently holds the position of clinical and educational supervisor for foundation doctors and is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London Medical School.
