Mr Hutchins is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew's Hospital. He also runs a private clinic at London Bridge Hospital. He specialises in Hepatobiliary Surgery, including liver and whipple resection, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) and hernia repair. As well as pilonidal sinus excision, bile duct resection and reconstruction (BDRR).
After qualifying from the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital, Mr Hutchins undertook specialised training in Transplantation, Liver and Pancreatic Surgery at Royal Free and Hammersmith Hospitals, as well as Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, under Professor Sir Roy Calne.
His research interests include the molecular biology of liver, biliary and pancreatic cancers, novel therapies for bile duct cancers and techniques of liver resection. He is actively involved in research with the National Cancer Research Institute Upper GI Clinical Study Group, which coordinates all major liver and pancreatic cancer studies in the UK.
Mr Hutchins is a member of the National Peer review team, which assesses the performance of liver and pancreatic units in the UK and is a member of the London School of Surgery appointing and reviewing performance of surgical registrars.
