Ram Moorthy is a Consultant ENT Surgeon practising from Wexham Park, Spire Thames Valley and The Princess Margaret Hospitals. He also works at the Bridge Clinic, Maidenhead and is an Honorary Consultant Head And Neck Surgeon at The Royal Berkshire Hospital.
He has a Central London practice at London ENT and Balance Centre, based at 41 Welbeck St, part of the world-renowned Princess Grace Hospital.
During his medical studies at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, he earned a BSc in Clinical Anatomy. He then undertook specialist training in ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery and neurosurgery before enhancing his skills in ENT surgery at Charing Cross Hospital. His further training has taken him from the West Midlands to Guy's Hospital, London. He also spent time as a senior trainee Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and The Evelina Children's Hospital. He successfully completed a prestigious National Interface Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Outside his exemplary work as a surgeon Mr Moorthy is also a keen educator: He trains future ENT surgeons at Wexham Park and is the ENT Training Programme Director for Thames Valley. He is the Clinical Tutor for Wexham Park Hospital and is a past Director of both the local Foundation Training Programme and the Associate Directors of the Foundation School at Oxford Foundation School. In the past, he has been an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham, an MSc supervisor at the University of Edinburgh and has written chapters for a number of prestigious ENT textbooks including the leading surgical textbook Stell and Maran’s Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology.
Mr Moorthy has held a number of esteemed positions at the British Medical Association including Chairman of the UK Junior Doctors Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Science. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, member of ENT-UK, British Association of Head and Neck Oncology, British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, British Medical Association and Royal Society of Medicine.
Mr Moorthy undertook his undergraduate medical training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals In London graduating in 1999.
He undertook his basic surgical training on the South Coast obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) then at Charing Cross Hospital in London.
He undertook higher surgical training initially in the West Midlands before returning to London. After becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, FRCS(ORL-HNS) he spent a year as a senior trainee in Paediatric ENT at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and the Evelina Children's Hospital, London.
Mr Moorthy was awarded a prestigious National Interface Training Fellowship in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
Following successful completion of his fellowship, he was appointed Consultant ENT surgeon at Heatherwood and Wexham Park NHS Foundation Trust, which is now part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. He is also an honorary consultant at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading as their lead parathyroid surgeon.
