“Right from the first meeting, Mr Acher has given his very qualified advice, on the best way to treat my problem. He has been very informative and took notice of any concerns I may have had with detailed explanations on the forthcoming procedure. He made me feel relaxed and helped me to understand all about the way things were going to progress, which gave me great confidence in his abilities and the final outcome of the operation. I was apprehensive but looking forward to be on the road back to a more normal life. Overall I am very happy with the dealings I have had with Mr Acher and I am well on the road to recovery.“

    About

Mr Acher is a Consultant Urological Surgeon.  Following training on the South Thames part of the London Specialist Registrar roation he gained entry to the Specialist register in 2011. Mr Acher completed his PhD on prostate cancer brachytherapy at Cambridge University and in 2010 received a commendation at the Royal Socoiety of Medicine Young Trainee of the Year Awards.

His special interests include general urology, urinary stone disease, problems with urinary flow and urological cancers.  Mr Acher has introduced short stay laser prostate surgery (HoLEP) for benign prostate problems and carries out 100 of these procedures per year. He also manages kidney stones and has  set up an advanced Prostate Diagnostic services incorporating multiparametric MRI and comprehensive transperineal prostate biopsy- this has reduced infections and inconclusive transrectal biopsy, and most importantly is preferred by patients.

Very helpful. Put my mind at rest and made an embarrassing situation for me a positive experience. Also mentioned a shy bladder, a term I had never heard before, which will also help me in the future.
