Mr Miah is a Consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon who was appointed as a Consultant immediately after the completion of his specialist training programme in 2015 at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Qualifying with an undergraduate degree in Medicine from the University of Dundee Medical School in 2003, he went on to complete his core training in Liverpool and Blackpool. Here, he built his skills and gained experience in general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopaedics and trauma, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery and organ transplantation as well as ENT surgery.
He is experienced in paediatric ENT surgery as well as to adult ENT surgery. The majority of his specialist ENT training took place in Scotland and Yorkshire. Included in this training was the development of a range of general ENT and head and neck surgical skills which included skull base and facial plastic surgery. He has also collaborated with maxillofacial surgeons to further hone his experience in facial plastic surgery along with head and neck oncology.
Currently, he works in otology and hearing implantations and is part of the Bone-Anchored Hearing Implant Team at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
To complement his clinical work, Mr Miah is involved in the training of medical, dental and nursing students. He has been an Honorary Clinical Teacher and Examiner for OSCE’s at the University of Dundee Medical School. Additionally, he is actively involved in research into ENT conditions with a particular focus on the ear.
