



Orthopaedic Surgery
Mr Maxim Horwitz is a Consultant Hand Surgeon in the Hand Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, working previously as a Consultant in the Major Trauma Centre at St Mary’s Hospital London, where he still consults regarding Complex Injuries. He works very closely with a team of Hand Therapists and with fellowship-trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
Mr Horwitz was educated and trained in South Africa and London, UK, completing training in Orthopaedics and Trauma in London, then travelling to Sydney, Australia as the Pulvertaft Fellow of the British Society of Hand Surgery. He then undertook a fellowship in children’s hand conditions at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He also undertook an AO fellowship in Trauma in Salzburg, Austria, training in advanced techniques in managing complex hand and upper limb trauma, wrist and hand arthritis as well as the treatment of congenital hand deformity, complex nerve injuries and microsurgery. His interests also lie in the management of the hand and upper limb in children with cerebral palsy.
Mr Horwitz has been awarded the BSSH postgraduate diploma in hand surgery and is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association. He has published many book chapters and scientific papers related to hand surgery.
