Mr Maurice Lau is a leading Consultant Urologut with HCA Healthcare at the Christie Private Care along with an NHS role at The Christie Hospital. His areas of interest include urological cancers, men's health and haematuria. The talented surgeon offers a variety of treatments including open radical prostatectomy, laparoscopic nephrectomies and robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomies. He assisted to establish a transperineal ultrasound-guided template biopsy of the prostate to improve the diagnostic rate
Mr Lau started his career with a BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of St. Andrews, followed by a Medical Degree from Manchester University in 1988. He completed his training in the North West and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Wrightington Hospital Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in 2000. Following this he was appointed to Salford Royal Hospital and The Christie in 2006, working solely in oncology.
