Mr Matthew James is a renowned Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, specialising in hand and wrist surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust. He has more than 15 years of clinical experience in plastic surgery which has developed his clinical skills and expertise within this field. He is now the clinical lead for hand and trauma surgery at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital. He is known to perform more hand and wrist operations than any of the surgeons within this division. Prior to this, he completed his professional training in London, Cambridge, Australia and the renowned McIndoe Surgery Centre.
Mr James has established his own private practice in Central London and in South East London and has received referrals from other surgeons in complex limb reconstruction, rheumatoid hands, tendon reconstruction, ganglions, peripheral nerve surgery, scaphoid surgery, carpal tunnel decompression and also wrist reconstruction. Furthermore, he can also carry out aesthetic plastic surgery and skin lesion removal, skin cancer and scar revision.
Mr James is a member of several organisations including the British Association of Hand Surgeons, the General Medical Council, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the Medical Protection Society. He has also published in numerous books on plastic and cosmetic surgery and also trains other surgeons in cosmetic surgery and hand and wrist reconstruction at the Royal College of Surgeons.
