



General Surgery
Mr Johnathan Hubbard is a Consultant Endocrine and General Surgeon, he is a specialist Endocrine Surgeon.
Johnathan Hubbard graduated from Newcastle University Medical School in 1991. He completed his training in General and Endocrine surgery in Newcastle in 2002. This included two years Molecular Biology based research, completing an MD in 2001. He was awarded the Intercollegiate FRCS in General Surgery with specialist interest in Endocrine Surgery in 2001.
In 2004 he was the first English surgeon to be awarded the European Board Exam Qualification in Endocrine Surgery. He worked as Assistant in Endocrine Surgery in Marseille with Prof Jean-Francois Henry in 2001-2002 where he gained experience in Minimally Invasive techniques of parathyroid surgery including Video Assisted Parathyroidectomy. He also gained a large experience in Laparoscopic Adrenal surgery and thyroid cancer surgery.
In 2002 he was appointed Consultant Endocrine Surgeon at Guys at St Thomas Hospitals and is also an Honorary Consultant at Kings College Hospital. He is one of the largest volume Endocrine surgeons in the uk. He currently performs over 300 Thyroid and Parathyroid procedures per year and has performed 1500 parathyroid procedures. He performs around 40 adrenal operations per year. He is an examiner for the European Board of Endocrine Surgery and has examined for the UK MRCS.
Amongst multiple publications and book chapters, Johnathan edited the textbook entitled ‘Principle and Practice of Endocrine Surgery’ with contributors from the UK, Europe, USA & Asia. Johnathan Is a former conference organiser and executive committee member of the BAETS and is also a member of Internationl , Francophone, European and American Associations of Endocrine Surgery ( IAES, AFCE, ESES, AAES) and the American THyroid Association (ATA).
