



General Surgery
Mr Jamie Murphy is highly experienced Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. He also performs private work at the Princess Grace Hospital and London Digestive Centre.
Mr Murphy has extensive experience in both elective and emergency, open and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He has specialist expertise in the treatment of bowel cancers that require advanced therapies due to their extent or complexity. He also has extensive expertise in the management of complex pelvic floor disorders (incontinence and constipation), the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease) and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
Mr Murphy was instrumental in the establishment of an advanced / recurrent pelvic cancer service, a heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) service and also an intra-operative radiotherapy service for recurrent bowel cancer, at both Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Princess Grace Hospital.
Mr Murphy has published extensively in international surgical journals and textbooks. He has also lectured internationally on the subjects of advanced minimally invasive surgery and complex cancer, as well as serving as a faculty member for many of the international surgical conferences.
Mr Murphy has returned to London from the United States in 2013 where he was Assistant Professor of Colorectal Surgery at The Mayo Clinic. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of London and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and a member of the Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Mr Murphy is also President Elect of the International Society for Digestive Surgery.
