Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Urogynaecology Subspecialist, Mr Demetri Panayi, is the Lead Urogynaecologist at Epsom and St Helier Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Panayi is an extremely experienced in the field of urogynaecology and specialises in all aspects of his field, including medical and surgical management of pelvic pain and pelvic floor problems, urinary incontinence in women, prolapse of uterus and vagina, bladder and vaginal pain, repeated urinary infections/cystitis/interstitial cystitis, childbirth injury including anal sphincter injury, vaginal, perineal and labial distortion, heavy periods as well as menopause and postmenopausal problems
After graduating from Imperial College Medical School in London, Mr Panayi embarked upon general obstetrics and gynaecology training in southwest London. Returning to Imperial College, the then undetook higher subspecialty training in urogynaecology.
At St Helier Hospital, Mr Panayi heads up the perineal clinic service, which assesses and treats women who have sustained serious childbirth injuries. His key research areas of interest include ultrasound imaging of the lower urinary tract and urodynamics assessment. He has widely published in the field of urogynaecology and is often invited to share his insights and experience at national and international scientific meetings.
