I am not sure which category to place my condition. The simple explanation is that I had a calcified cyst growing on a disc which was permanently pushing on a nerve.

Professor Choi was very thorough, he took time to explain everything and answer all my questions. His calm manner coupled with his vast experience was very reassuring. I underwent surgery to remove a spinal tumour and from the outset felt that I was in the best possible hands. I would highly recommend him.

Very efficient, professional and competent. Despite a more complicated procedure than expected, I woke to find that everything had been dealt with and fixed nevertheless. Recovery so far has been better than expected.

Mr David Choi was clear and precise in his explanation of my condition and walked me through all the steps. I felt very comforted and assured by his post op feedback.

I arranged a consultation with Prof Choi after having heard very positive feedback about his practice from his former colleagues. I have had a very stormy clinical course with multiple elective and emergency operations performed on the same lumbar disc within a period of 6 months. After video and face to face consultations I felt confident to go ahead with surgery under his care. Prof Choi has a very calm and authoritative manner, is open to questions and explains the risks and benefits of interventions well. I have been medically qualified for 18 years and would say that these qualities are surprisingly rare in surgeons! I would have no hesitation in recommending a consultation with him. In-patient care was also excellent

Prof Choi is an excellent doctor in whom I have complete confidence. I have not given 5 stars in all three categories because I cannot separate MY post operative experience ( which has had its problems) from Prof Choi’s expertise. I hope I don’t have to have further surgery but if I needed to I would not think of looking elsewhere. His back up staff, especially his secretary, are also excellent.

surgery for Myelopathy Cervical (neck) surgery
I needed neck surgery due to cervical myelopathy, but I have serious underlying conditions of both the heart and lungs. So what should have been bread and butter surgery for Prof. Choi became far more complex and risky, added to the complexities and risks of the current worldwide Covid pandemic. Prof. Choi and his Anaesthetist took time to study my conditions, contacting my NHS consultants and then put all the necessary back up in place should complications arise. Fortunately, those back ups weren't required and the procedure was pretty much a text book procedure. Now nearly three weeks down the line, I am pain free and thankfully have encountered no complications whatsoever. From my experience I couldn't recommend Prof. Choi highly enough. He calls a spade a spade and puts the cards on the table. He pulls no punches, you know exactly where you stand and what you are up against.

Operation seems to have done the trick. Problem got home with excructiating pain in right leg from ankle to hip bone, suspect awkward movement of body in theatre, on table. 2 x sticks were needed to get around. Gradually over a period of 8 days this subsided so I can walk around the house and garden without a stick and get out of bed, put foot to floor without stabbing pain. Muscle twitches at night have stopped but was woken by pain in right leg so I am waiting for the leg to be back to normal so I can judge the true result of the operation. I consider the "sciatica" like pain to be an unfortunate incident which fortunately has diminished.

I was so reassured and relieved after my zoom consultation with Professor Choi. He listened, thoroughly explained his diagnosis and what surgery would involve. His compassion coupled with his expertise gave me the confidence I needed to go ahead. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome especially being free from the pain I was in. The whole experience from my initial contact with his secretary to post op has been super efficient and amazing.

Professor Choi operated on my back 3 years ago. He was extremely kind and caring and totally put me at ease about the operation and what to expect during and after. He only operated when the problem became completely untenable and I could barely walk without being in excruciating pain. I am now back playing tennis and often say to myself ...Thank you Prof Choi for giving me back my life.
