He has been a pioneer in paediatric (children's) ENT for many years now in the UK, initially training at Great Ormond St Hospital in London and in Cincinnati, USA with Dr Robin Cotton.
He was the first ENT surgeon in the UK to specialise exclusively in children and has been involved in many pioneering developments in airway, tonsil and adenoid surgery. His interests span the whole range of paediatric ENT conditions, from decision making in glue ear to complex surgery for airway stenosis (narrowing of the airways). He has a special interest in airway surgery, choanal atresia (congenital disorder where the back of the nasal passage is blocked), mastoid surgery and the best techniques for tonsil and adenoid surgery.
Currently he is Senior ENT Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and a long standing member of the Medical Advisory Council at the Portland Hospital, London. He has served the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Society for Paediatric Otolaryngology, the European Society for Paediatric Otolaryngology and was President of the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology. He has published widely and is invited to lecture around the world.
