



General Surgery
Mr Colin Bicknell is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College as well as the Clinical Director of the North West Thames Aneurysm Screening Programme. He also sees patients privately, including at The Wellington Hospital. Mr Bicknell specialises in the full range of vascular conditions that require surgical and medical attention, including aortic, carotid artery, upper limb arterial and lower limb aterial, lymphatic and venous disease. He has particular interest in complex aneurysm repair and minimally invasive endovascular surgery, including aneurysms and laser vein surgery.
Mr Bicknell is also active in research , particularly in the field of minimally invastive vascular surgery, using novel techniques and he has also explored the advantages of robotic endovascular catheters in the vascular tree, which has led to the world’s first trials of vascular robotics in man. His research interests also include examination of methods to reduce error in vascular surgery procedures. This has led to the initiation of a unique team training programme at Imperial. He is a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, European Society of Vascular Surgery, British Society of Endovascular Therapy and the Royal Society of Medicine.
