Mr Bhupal Chitnavis is Consultant Neurosurgeon who specialised in Spinal surgery.Â
Mr Chitnavis attained his medical degree from Guy's Hospital, London. He went to complete his specialist surgical training at Great Ormond Street and King's College Hospital, London. While at King's, he developed a keen interest in vascular neurosurgery and spinal surgery under Professor Anthony Strong and Dr Richard Gullan, respectively. Prior to his training, Mr Chitnavis had neurosurgical experience in Birmingham with the late Professor Edward Hitchcock and later on at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery with Professor Lindsay Simon. He also has experience in high flow vascular bypass techniques.Â
Mr Chitnavis' principal special interest lies in spinal surgery, specifically complex stabilisation and development of new instrumentation. Mr Chitnavis also has expertise in orthopaedic spinal surgery methods with experience in Germany with Professor Jurgen Harms and further training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London.
Alongside his private practice, Mr Chitnavis is involved with surgical charity work in developing nations. He trains both spinal and neurosurgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons and continues to work in the NHS. His professional memberships include the Society of British Neurosurgeons, the Independent Doctors Federation and the CyberKnife Society.Â
