Very clear. Made me understand the impacts and potential delays and really helped me make my mind up as to which treatment I should go for.

I have had several consultations with Mr Lamb face to face and on the telephone, he has put me at ease each time and explained the reasons for the decisions made, he has listened carefully to any concerns I have had and has always done everything possible to alleviate them.

It was just over 3 months ago that you carried out my prostatectomy. Of course, much has happened since then and you, and your colleagues, will now be totally absorbed in dealing with the current outbreak of Covid-19, for which the whole community thanks you. However, my little note comes to express my belated thanks and appreciation to you and all who helped, advised and cared for me through that difficult diagnosis of my prostate cancer to operation and through recovery. I probably should have written sooner to express my thanks but wished to wait until I could say with confidence that I feel almost back to my old self again and have resumed life as normal, as much as it can be under the current lock-down. At every point in the process from my GP to the hospital staff at every level, the treatment I received was truly amazing. The personal care, support and attention was beyond the call of duty and I continue to live in appreciation for all that you and your colleagues did for me. The current crisis and outcome is difficult for everybody and we recognise the special role you and all the NHS have to play at this time. You are in our prayers and that of our local church community and will continue to be so.

I am writing to express my gratitude for the treatment I received at your hands two weeks ago. Your treatment coupled with the caring attitude of the hospital staff has helped me to attain fast recovery. I am also pleased to inform you that I feel much better now so I, once again would like to express my gratefulness towards your kindness and generosity.

A wonderful consultation was provided by Mr Lamb who was happy to discuss non-surgical and surgical options open to me. He discussed the pros and cons of all options both medical and surgical and was clearly interested in my best interests and not simply seeking additional patients for the surgical procedure. He was able in a calm and relaxed manner, answer all my questions in a informative and engaging manner. He has kindly gone the extra mile by facilitating a follow up consultation by a member of the brachytherapy team this morning who was able to discuss with me the criteria for following this treatment pathway. The experience I have had was outstanding and could not have been improved had I been a private patient asking the same questions. I am extremely grateful for the time he spent with me on the telephone consultation.

Many thanks for your review. I'm glad you found the discussion helpful. The main thing in my mind is that you get all the information you want and are empowered to make the right decision for your own health. Good luck with your treatment! Ben

Ben is an excellent clinician and a very skilful surgeon. However, more importantly he treats each patient as an individual and has a patient centred approach. His patients are extremely complimentary about his bedside manner and his approachability. I would happily recommend him to any member of my family.
