He trained as an Academy doctor at Charlton Athletic Football Club, which allowed him to gain experience of treating sports professionals.

    In addition, Dr Dhinsa has many fellowships and memberships including Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, British Orthopaedic Association, British Medical Association and British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He also has a keen interest in research and has presented at numerous national and international events and had many peer-reviewed publications. Further, he is involved in the teaching and training of undergraduates and supervising trainees as well as being on the faculty of numerous courses.
