Mr. Barham Fakouri is a senior Consultant Spinal Surgeon (Neurosurgeon) working at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He qualified in Medicine in 1996 from the University of Düsseldorf in Germany. He then specialised in Neurosurgery and qualified as a Neurosurgeon in 2003 from a teaching hospital of the University of Bonn in Germany.
After becoming a Neurosurgeon he worked as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in Cologne, Germany. He then moved to the UK and completed spinal fellowships at the Centre for Spinal Surgery in Nottingham and then at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Subsequently, he was appointed as Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where he currently runs his NHS clinic and performs his spinal procedures.
Mr Fakouri also practices privately at London Bridge Hospital and Hospital of St John's and Elizabeth in London.
Mr Fakouri has been interested in research and has published in peer-reviewed spinal journals. He has also been involved in teaching and training young doctors and future spinal consultants.
His areas of interest include lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, adult spinal deformity, spinal fractures, spinal tumours, spinal infection and minimally invasive procedures.
