I went to see Mr Shankar about a Spigellian hernia armed with the results of a recent scan. The first thing he told me was that I had gall bladder disease - I was shocked and alarmed. He later said that perhaps it was not serious. This was the first I had heard of this and upon consulting my referring physician and the radiologist was told that the scan showed nothing of any significance . He then told me that in addition to the surgery for my Spigellian hernia I must have my umbilical hernia repaired at the same time. Again - having consulted my referring physician and another surgeon I had been told that this was not necessary and would be strictly at my discretion. A visiting card was then shoved in my hand and and hand extended - after about 8 minutes - to make it clear the consultation was over. I was not asked if I had any questions or concerns and left feeling very very upset and disturbed. I have seen many doctors over the past 72 years and can honestly say that this was the most disturbing encounter I have ever experienced.

Dr Shankar was very professional and understood my concerns, and left me confident he would be able to help me find the results i was looking for with surgery. He was also very accommodating with my schedule and desire to have my procedure done quickly. His team was wonderful to work with and the plastic surgeon he teamed me up with was equally competent. His nurse Mariana was there for me every step of the way. I could not recommend Dr Shankar and his team enough.
