Mr Akash Patel, Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based in the Royal Free Hospital in London, he also sees patients via private practise. He is highly specialised in hip and knee disorders, joint replacements, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), sports injuries and trauma. He is highly skilled in using non-operative procedures like biologics (PRP) and bracing for hip and knee disorders.
Mr Patel begun his medical education at University College London, where he graduated with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery in 2005. He then went on to do higher training in trauma and orthopaedics on the Imperial Northwest London rotation. He later undertook a fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of England, followed by further fellowships at the Royal Berkshire and Royal Free London Hospitals focusing on hip and knee procedures. During his training he developed his skills further by undergoing more international fellowships in Australia, Germany, France, Holland, South Africa, and Switzerland.
He is a keen researcher with an extensive publication history in many prestigious medical journals, his research has even won him numerous prizes. he is also invited to present his findings at conferences globally. He continues to contribute to medical education by taking on many educational roles. He is currently an Associate Professor at UCL, an accredited instructor for Advanced Life Support, and is Director of many nationally recognised Orthopaedic Masterclass surgical courses. His educational efforts have been recognised as he was awarded an Imperial College London Honorary Senior Lectureship.
