



Mr Abdullah Jibawi is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with a specialist interest in all aspects of vascular diseases: diabetic foot diseases, aortic surgery and in varicose vein treatments.
Mr Jibawi has special interest in difficult to treat varicose veins, eczema and ulcers. He has designed and presented a new innovative classification system for varicose veins based on their complexity. Being a medical Artist, Mr Jibawi pays special attention to the aesthetic side of varicose veins treatment. The selection of treatment will take all such factors into consideration.
Mr Jibawi has a long experience in treating aortic aneurysms using key hole surgery. He has gained this from his work in top UK centres and with world-renowned scientists, surgeons and interventional radiologists. With his background in mechanical engineering, physics and mathematics, Mr Jibawi has special experience in how to choose the most appropriate graft design that fits complex anatomy and that provides the best immediate and long term outcome.
Mr Jibawi's current theme of interest is thrombolysis for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), stroke patients and clots in arteries and grafts elsewhere.
Mr Jibawi is also a specialist in hernia surgery, both open and laparoscopic. He performs lumps and bumps surgery, with a special attention to the aesthetic and functional aspects of this surgery.
Mr Jibawi completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Damascus in Syria, with distinctions in physiology and anatomy. Following that, he finished higher specialist training in general, trauma and laparoscopic surgery before extending his training in the UK. Mr Jibawi joined approved SpR training programmes in General and Vascular surgeryin the East Midlands Deanery (University of Leicester), and has had additional training within All Wales Deanery and Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deaneries. Finally, he completed a two-year fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the University College London Hospital and received his FRCS (General/Vascular) in 2013.
Mr Jibawi was awarded a Doctorate Degree (D.M) for his work on developing better methods in improving outcome in vascular surgery, a joint work between University of Brighton, Sussex and Oxford and he also authored a book ‘Current surgical guidelines’, which was featured in the British Journal of Surgery.
Since 2013, Mr Jibawi has been practising as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Jibawi serves on the board for vascular surgery and is an instructor and examiner to FRCS candidates in the UK and abroad.
