Miss Ekpemi Irune is currently Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat, Head & Neck and Thyroid surgeon at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. The majority of her work centres around benign and malignant Head and Neck surgery, Thyroid surgery, voice complaints and LASER surgery to the voice box, airways and upper digestive tract. Miss Irune undertakes major Head and Neck cancer operations with or without reconstruction; in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, she developed and leads a multi-specialist voice, swallow and upper airway clinic for sufferers of COVID-19 in the NHS. She brings this experience and expertise to her private service. She also runs a Trans-Nasal Oesophagoscopy (TNO) service and her Facial - Plastic service includes rhinoplasty, scar revision and skin lesions. She also offers Botox® and dermal filler rejuvenation treatments alongside targeted skin treatments for hyper pigmentation, ageing and acne.
Following her graduation from Medical School, Miss Irune undertook Higher Specialist Surgical Training in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery in major teaching hospitals in England. She further obtained an MSc in Surgical Science from Imperial College, London. Miss Irune has completed a number of National and International Fellowships including an Academic research Fellowship in Outcomes in Head and Neck Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London; She also undertook the European Academy Fellowship in Facial - Plastic Surgery at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam and the National Training Interface Group Fellowship in Aesthetic and Reconstructive surgery, gaining experience in the fields of Facial-plastic, Rhinoplasty surgery and Craniofacial surgery. Furthermore, she went on to be appointed as the Royal College of Surgeons of England Post-CCT Fellow in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Charing Cross Hospital, London. She has a keen interest in Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery in advancing Head & Neck surgery and continues to pursue research in Head and Neck Oncology. She remains actively involved in Higher Specialist Surgical Training of doctors.
