    About

At Miss Claire Mellon and Associates

Miss Mellon is the Obstetric lead at the practice. She deals with a wide range of deliveries, from complicated caesarean sections to water births. All her private patients deliver at The Portland Hospital.

Her gynaecological work includes gynaecological emergencies, early pregnancy scanning, pre-fertility workups and coordination with fertility clinics for surrogacy & IVF. She is highly skilled in laparoscopic (key-hole) and hysteroscopic surgery and has a clinical interest in the treatment of fibroids.

    Background

Miss Mellon graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1988 (MBCHB). She originally trained as a GP in Australia, but returned to Britain to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Miss Mellon became a fully qualified member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2001.

Miss Mellon began her Harley Street practice in the rooms of Sir Marcus Setchell in 1999. She set up her own practice in 2006, and in 2014 she founded Miss Claire Mellon & Associates at The Portland Hospital.

Outside of her practice work, she is a trustee for Wellbeing of Women, a charity that raises funds for research into Women’s Health. She is the principal investigator for the international Bayer trials for the medical management of fibroids. At the Whittington Hospital she is the Medical Lead for Female Genital Mutilation, as well as the Obstetric Ward Lead. Miss Mellon is passionate about teaching and was previously Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Whittington Hospital for medical students.
