Mr George Prezerakos completed his medical training at The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, obtaining an MD and a PhD. He moved to the UK in 2006 to complete his Neurosurgery Training on the University College London, Imperial College Hospitals and Barts and The London combined programme.

Following this, he undertook further spinal surgery training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurosurgery, completing a Victor Horsley combined orthopaedic-neurosurgical spinal fellowship. This was followed by a Visiting Fellowship at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York, where he trained in minimally invasive spinal surgery, including techniques such as keyhole, tubular access and computer spinal navigation guidance. In 2017, he was appointed as a Consultant to The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Mr Prezerakos also has an interest and expertise in treating patients with problems related to previous spinal operations.

Alongside his consultancy work, he is actively involved in clinical research and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His current interests include incorporating the patient experience into clinical decision making as well as the co-development and validation of emerging spinal technologies such as robotics and navigation

Mr Prezerakos was awarded the Inchcape educational grant as well as the Pain Section prize by the American College of Neurosurgical Societies. The British Association of Spinal Surgeons awarded him the President’s travelling fellowship in 2016.
