Dr Dulmini Kariyawasam is a Specialist in Diabetes and Endocrinology, currently based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and the private practice at HCA London Bridge/Shard, KIMs Sevenoaks Medical Centre and Guy's and St.Thomas' Private health, London. Her areas of interest include management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, complications of diabetes, management of hypoglycaemia, endocrine disorders: adrenal, thyroid, ovarian and testicular, menstrual problems, PCOS and growth and puberty problems.She has expertise in managing diabetes and endocrine problems in adolescents and young adults.
Dr Kariyawasam qualified in Medicine with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees in 2000. She completed a Master of Science at King’s College London in 2008 in Diabetes and Endocrinology.She completed her specialist training at the London Deanery in 2010 . She has a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians(UK) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians(UK) .
In addition, Dr Kariyawasam has many research interests and has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She has received many awards including Niru-Goenka award of Association of British Cinical DIabetologist(ABCD) for innovative thinking, in 2013 . Her Team has won many national awards including HSJ award for management of young adults with Type 1 diabetes. She also has professional memberships including Member of the Diabetes UK and Member American Diabetes Association and Endocrine Society.
