“Dr Misra took over my treatment after my previous oncologist left . He always makes sure that I understand everything about my illness and explains every ct , heart and MRI scans . He never talks down to me which is very important. He is always there to support me or have a chat about anything that might be worrying me . I know exactly where I am in my treatment plan and he has helped me with assuring my employers that I am able to go back to full time work . Dealing with cancer requires a fine balance between the technicalities and the emotional. Dr Misra and between him and his secretary Sam I feel cared for and safe . “

    About

Dr Vivek Misra is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in breast cancer, rectal cancer and spinal metastatic disease and cord compression. He treats his patients using chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapy and radiotherapy

Dr Misra graduated from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India in 1995 and was awarded the gold medal for the top undergraduate in his course group. He went on to complete his post-graduate medical and specialist Clinical Oncology training in the UK. He gained a MRCP (UK) in 1999 and obtained his FRCR (Oncology) in 2003. From 2005 he has been a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at The Christie NHS Trust, Manchester.

He is a member of the Breast and Gastrointestinal disease groups and is a principal investigator for several national and international clinical trials. He has a particular research interest in the management of Spinal Cord Compression and late effects of Pelvic radiotherapy. Dr Misra is also actively involved in the development of new radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic body radiotherapy at The Christie.

As chair of the Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) Group he leads the MSCC service in Manchester. He was instrumental in the development of an integrated co-ordination service in the area; bringing together a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care for a complex group of patients.

It is important that HCA is transparent about our relationship with those doctors who provide us with clinical guidance on delivering the best possible care to patients and operating our hospitals safely and efficiently. We set out here some of the ways in which we work together and the amount we pay this doctor for such services.
