Dr Stefano Palmisani graduated from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 2005. He then trained in Anaesthesiology (Sant’ Andrea University Hospital, Italy) and subsequently completed higher specialist training in pain medicine (Valencia General Hospital, Spain) and further advanced training in London (Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospital).
Appointed as a consultant in pain medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospital in 2011, Stefano is a specialist in interventional pain medicine with expertise in neuromodulation, minimally invasive endoscopic spine interventions and clinical research. He is currently part of the neuromodulation team at Guy's and St Thomas' Pain Department, where approximately 10% of the neuromodulation procedures performed yearly in UK are carried out.
He has also led the development of an endoscopic spine pain interventions service at Guy's & St Thomas, where he currently offers facet joints and sacro-iliac joints endoscopic rhizolysis. He values working within multi-specialists teams: he is part of a multidisciplinary tertiary referrals facial pain clinic that aims to assess and treat patients with complex facial pains and headache conditions and jointly leads a male pelvic pain/bladder pain/functional urology neuromodulation clinic.
