    About

Dr Shazia Malik is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a plethora of experience. She gained her Medical degree with Honours and the Gold Medal in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1991. Since then she has trained in Obstetrics in some of the largest tertiary level units in the country. She undertook her specialist training in Cambridge, where she was also a research fellow funded by the MRC working with a world-famous team looking at abnormal vessel function in women with excessively heavy periods or endometriosis.

She went on to successfully complete her Subspecialty accreditation in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the prestigious University College Hospital in London (UCH), at which she still remains an Honorary Consultant.

She has also worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist as a part of the Recurrent Miscarriage team located at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington and also as a Consultant in IVF at CRGH, well known as one of the country's leading IVF units.

Whilst gaining her Subspecialty, she continued her interest in Gynaecological Ultrasound at Kings College Hospital, and is currently lead for Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology at Barnet Hospital (The Royal Free Foundation Trust), alongside a busy Obstetric workload.

With such extensive experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Malik is able to provide the highest standards of treatment and care for all her patients.

    Pregnancy
Ms Malik was my consultant during my first pregnancy. She was very supportive, attentive, calm, patient and was always available by phone and by email when I had any questions/ concerns. She carried out all the necessary examinations (monthly check-ups and regular scans) and several blood tests. I really felt I was in great hands. She gave me a lot of good advice during all the stages of my pregnancy. I really trusted her. As I was pregnant during the lockdown, I did not have a real birth preparation and did not really know how to « push ». During the delivery, as I was not pushing correctly she taught me in a few minutes how to exactly do it. During which, I felt like I was in a bubble with her, only listening to her voice and she was able to guide me through it, and thanks to her, 20 minutes later I met my baby. She took all the necessary precautions regarding me and my baby’s health. After the delivery, she really followed up with me to check that everything was doing okay (stitches and me and my baby’s wellbeing). I felt that Ms Malik was part of my family. I highly recommend her as a gynaecologist and obstetrician.

I first saw Ms Malik when I was struggling with subfertility and after having seen multiple doctors. Ms Malik’s composure, empathy and decisive, action-driven approach immediately put me at ease and also on a path to improve my chances of getting pregnant rather than the usual “be patient”. Ms Malik was then my consultant during pregnancy and delivery. She made me feel very well taken care of and safe in her hands even through some complications during both pregnancy and delivery. It was thanks to her expertise, attention to all-round well being, advice on tools and therapies to support pregnancy and delivery, ability to summon any assistance/support really quickly and fantastic (prompt and kind) communication. Ms Malik’s assistant is phenomenal too - super responsive and on top of everything. The two make a great team! I wouldn’t want to have any other consultant in London.

Female Fertility Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
For context I started seeing Dr. Malik 2 years ago, when I suffered from many symptoms as a result of PCOS. I started to be more concerned about it affecting my fertility, but Dr. Malik has always took her time to explain things properly to me, advising me on supplements to take and suggested more of a natural way to help with my PCOS. I have seen many consultants in the past, where they have always been quick to prescribe birth control pills, therefore Dr. Malik’s approach has certainly been a breath of fresh air! She has always been open and honest with all our conversations and she is very approachable and this certain helps to get her patients to open up I am sure. Now 2 years on, my PCOS symptoms had all subsided and with a regular cycle, I am now ready to take the next step in my family planning. Thank you Dr. Malik for being wonderful and professional as always! We really need more doctors like you. I would certainly have no problem to refer more of my friends and families to see Dr. Malik. All the best.
