



Respiratory Medicine
Dr Sarah Elkin is a Consultant in General and Respiratory Medicine at Imperial NHS Trust and also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. She is based at St Mary’s Hospital NHS Trust and also sees patients privately, including at the Harley Street Clinic. Dr Elkin is a true integrated clinician working in the acute trust on call, in clinics and in the community with GPs.
Her clinical interests include breathlessness and cough, common respiratory conditions, conditions related to smoking such as chronic obstructive and pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer, smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma chest infections, pneumonia, lung function testing and bronchoscopy.
She studied Medicine at the Middlesex Hospital, UCLH before going on to specialise in respiratory medicine at North West Thames. Dr Elkin has a doctorate from research carried out at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. She is COPD lead for Imperial College NHS trust and SRO-Respiratory for North west london health and care partnership
Dr Elkin was lead of Imperial’s Respiratory Department for seven years and the Chair of the NHS London Respiratory Board from 2012-2013. She is now Clinical Director of Integrated Care, working closely with GPs and patient groups to improve care for those with respiratory conditions.
