Dr Saqib Chowdhary qualified from St Thomas' Hospital, London having trained in cardiology and coronary intervention at University Hospital Birmingham, Walsgrave hospital (Coventry) and the University Health Network, Toronto, Canada.
Saqib has amassed in-depth training in all fields of general cardiology and coronary intervention both as a clinical SpR and as a Clinical Lecturer. He was awarded his PhD in Medicine in 2002 and has published extensively in the fields of nitric oxide, cardiac autonomic dysfunction and heart failure.
In 2003 he was awarded the prize of Young Investigator of the Year by the British Cardiac Society. Subsequently, he was awarded an international interventional fellowship at the Toronto General and Mount Sinai Hospitals, Toronto.
Dr Chowdhary is now a Consultant in Cardiology and Coronary Intervention at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. Dr Chowdhary has expertise in all aspects of general cardiology; angina, hypertension and heart failure in particular. His sub-specialist interest is coronary angioplasty and TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation). He focuses on complex stenting including radial access procedures, chronic total occlusions (CTO), the use of intra-coronary imaging (IVUS and OCT) to improve the results of stenting and transcutaneous septal ablation for the treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
