



Dr Sam Dawkins is a cardiologist specialising in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and structural intervention, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), percutaneous mitral valve repair (MitraClip), PFO closure and left atrial appendage occlusion. He has expertise in cardiac CT and echocardiography offering a comprehensive service for both diagnosis and treatment. He can offer face-to-face, telephone and video consultations.
He trained in London and Oxford and then spent two years working at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, the busiest valve centre in the United States. He is one of the UK’s most experienced mitral valve operators, with expertise in percutaneous mitral valve repair and replacement. He also regularly trains other cardiologists in these procedures around the world.
He has a very broad experience in TAVI, with particular expertise in complex situations, including patients with previous aortic valve replacement or challenging vascular access.
He is the clinical lead for structural intervention in Oxford, with a busy practice consisting of coronary intervention, TAVI, MitraClip, closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO), atrial septal defect (ASD), left atrial appendage occlusion, closure of paravalvular leaks and cardiac CT.
