Dr Roberta Brum was appointed as Consultant Physician in HIV and Genitourinary Medicine at the world-renowned Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London in 2014. In 2018, Roberta was appointed the Service Director for the St Stephen's Centre ( Sexual health clinic and HIV clinic - the largest HIV clinic in Europe) , at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Dr Brum obtained her MRCP in 2009 and then followed this with 5 years of specialist training in HIV/Genitourinary Medicine at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and King’s College Hospital. During this time, she obtained her Diplomas for HIV, Genitourinary Medicine and Family planning.
Her clinical expertise includes all aspects of sexual health and sexually
transmitted infections in both men and women. She has extensive experience in
managing all aspects of HIV infection, AIDS and antiretroviral therapy and is
currently the lead for HIV Women’s Health within her Department. Her regular
clinics include those for chronic female problems (BV/TV /Thrush); as well as
dedicated HIV women’s health clinics; HIV and menopause clinics and joint HIV
and pregnancy clinics. She has extensive experience with syphilis management
and leads virtual clinic locally. She has a large cohort of Portuguese speaking
patients, both in HIV and at her general Sexual Health clinics.
Dr Brum’s main clinical interests include all aspects of sexually transmitted
infections; Herpes, HIV and Syphilis management; recurrent vaginal infections
and chronic /recurrent urogenital conditions in both men and women ; delivery of PrEP and PEPSE .
She is also an advocate of a holistic approach to healthcare and in particular listening to patients concerns and involving them in their treatment plans. Dr Brum currently provides video and face to face consultations .
