“I visited Dr Jain privately over the last couple weeks, initially with an abnormal reading from my ECG after a health assessment. Dr Jain was polite and ran through my history to gain a better understanding of me and the issues, he was light, positive, talkative and reassuring. We discussed the next steps, which were followed through with quickly and had a final appointment to discuss the outcome of the findings. I would recommend Dr Jain to anyone that needs to see a cardiologist as he is very through and talked me thorugh the whole process and each step,“

    About

Dr Piyush Jain is a consultant cardiologist currently working at the private practices at Spire Bushey and Harpenden, HCA Wellington and Elstree Waterfront centre as well as OSD healthcare in Hemel hempstead. His NHS base is West Hertfordshire Hospitals. He has been a consultant cardiologist at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust since 2017 and is currently the departmental lead for echocardiography as well as the lead for clinical governance.

Dr Jain attained his first medical qualification in 2000. He completed his medical training in North London, at hospitals including Royal Brompton and Harefield Trusts as well the Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals, obtaining MRCP in 2010. He further trained at District General Hospitals and Essex cardiothoracic centre where he trained advanced cardiac imaging (Cardiac CT, Echocardiography). He now trains registars in these specialist techniques and teaches on advanced CT courses.

In 2015 he completed an MD (Research) at Imperial College London. His work was supported by the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin Post Graduate award.  The research was to evaluate ethnic differences in markers of subclinical atherosclerosis using cardiac imaging (coronary calcium, echocardiography and  myocardial perfusion), as well as inflammation (C-reactive protein). The aim of the study was to assess the potential of such markers in early identification of subjects at risk of coronary events.  He has presented his research at local and international conferences as well as published in high impact peer reviewed journals.

Dr Jain has many professional memberships including Royal College of Physicians, British Cardiovascular Society, European Society of Cardiology, British Society of Echocardiography, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and British Heart Valve Society.

While he see patients with all aspects of cardiac pathology, he has a special interest in advanced imaging (Echo, stress echo, Transoesophageal echo and cardiac CT).

He enjoys interaction with patients and spend as much time with them as needed to get to a clear diagnosis and clarification of all the findings and diagnosis to the patient. He ensures that they understand their disease, prognosis and future plans as well as rational for ongoing treatment. This allows for individualized medicine as far as possible, as well as shared decision making.

Dr Piyush Jain accurately spotted my condition at a routine trans-thoracic echo, he organised prompt follow up tests to confirm his diagnosis, and he also represented my case at the cross-functional review that ensured I eventually got the right treatment. When he first explained the prognosis to me, and informed me that I had been offered a surgery, I wanted more time - to seek other doctors’ opinions. Dr Jain patiently gave me bit the time as well as different follow-up options in order to do so. Overall I am very pleased with the care and advice I have received from Dr Jain.

Dr Jain was very thorough with exploring the reasons behind my symptoms which were a bit vague. He is a good listener, has an excellent bedside manner and explained any investigations and outcomes very thoroughly. My follow up appointments were also booked in a timely manner which was good for a swift diagnosis. I felt in very good hands and I would highly recommend Dr Jain.
