Dr Elinor Sawyer trained in clinical oncology at the Middlesex, Royal Free and Guy's and St Thomas'. She undertook a PhD in the molecular biology of phyllodes tumours at Cancer Research UK. She became a consultant at Guy's and St Thomas' in 2005, and at that time was awarded a Department of Health Clinician Scientist Award to continue her research activity into phyllodes tumours and establish her research interest in genetic predisposition to breast cancer.
Dr Sawyer has a special interest in Genetic predisposition to breast cancer with a particular interest in lobular breast cancer and pre-invasive disease (LCIS and DCIS), and also the identification of biomarkers that predict progression of LCIS and DCIS to invasive disease Molecular biology of phyllodes tumours.
