    Consultant cardiologist, Dr Oliver Guttmann works at St Bart's Hospital and has a special interest in chest pain and coronary interventions. He is also the clinical lead for the Coronary Care Unit at Barts Heart Centre. Dr Guttmann treats all aspects of general adult cardiology and sees patients with symptoms such as high blood pressure, palpitations, and cholesterol. He also runs the myocarditis/inflammatory heart muscle clinic at the hospital and sees patients with cardiomyopathies, particularly myocarditis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

    Dr Guttmann qualified in 2005 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2008. He then spent time training at a number of hospitals including the Heart Hospital, the London Chest Hospital, and Barts Heart Centre. He went on to undertake research into atrial fibrillation and stroke in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and received an MD (Res) degree for his work. Dr Guttmann has since published several articles in the areas of inherited inflammatory heart disease, cardiomyopathy risk stratification, and percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes.

    Dr Guttmann also works as an honorary associate professor at University College London and is a proposal editor for Cochrane Heart. In addition, he is a member of the working group on pericardial and myocardial disease of the European Society of Cardiology. He also sits on the Finance Committee of the British Cardiovascular Society.
