Dr Nick Plowman is a Consultant in Clinical Oncologist based in London, UK. Graduating from Guys' Hospital Medical School, London in 1994 he gained a First Class Honours in both Medical Science Tripos and National Sciences Tripos at Cambridge University.
He has a specialist interest in improving cure rates in cancer whilst reducing the side effects of therapy on an individual. He has a long term interest in the advancement of radiotherapeutic methods used to treat prostate cancer including; both external beam conformal and seed brachytherapy – and hormonal methods of therapy, and focused brain and body radiotherapy techniques (Gamma and CyberKnife).
Dr Plowman pioneered the demonstration of the importance of adrenal sex steroid production in both prostate and breast cancer, developing therapies aimed to interrupt the pathways in both diseases. This practise has now become standard treatment worldwide.
