Dr Michael Perkin is a Consultant Paediatric Allergist and one of very few highly specialised paediatric allergists working exclusively in paediatric allergy. He, alongside Professor Gideon Lack, is now co-leading a large trial, the EAT Study, focused on the prevention of food allergy development in infants. He is also a Consultant Paediatric Allergist at St George’s Hospital while also dedicating his time to teaching as a Senior Lecturer in the largest paediatric allergy service in Europe, at St Thomas’ Hospital and a
Dr Perkin undertook allergy training at Southampton and St Mary’s Hospital as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital. he held a prestigious Welcome Training Fellowship, during which he conducted research for his PhD, which focused on farming children and what protects them from allergic disease. This work found a strong protective effect associated with unpasteurised milk consumption.
