Professor Michael Feher is Consultant Physician at Wellington Hospital, London; and Consultant Physician and Clinical Lead for lipid, diabetes, and hypertension service at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London. He is also Visiting Professor, Clinical Informatics and Health Outcomes Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, UK.
Prof Feher has developed and currently leads several unique specialist services including lipid clinics in adults and family lipids (joint with paediatrics), new diabetes therapies, liaison-psychiatry-diabetes, insulin pump and diabetic hypertension. He is currently diabetes assessor to London Metropolitan/Home County Police and diabetes adviser to British National Formulary. National/International committees include: NICE Committees for statins and type 2 diabetes, European Medicine Agency diabetes representative and DVLA panel for driving diabetes.
Over the past twenty-five years Prof Feher has had extensive clinical experience in the fields of lipids, diabetes, and hypertension. He has made considerable advances in combining clinical pharmacology, pharmaco-epidemiology and laboratory-based research with diabetes clinical care and teaching. He was the co-founder of the Diabetes Therapies Evaluation Network (DTEN), which is a research group, established to specifically evaluate phase 4 and early introduction into clinical practice of new therapies specific to diabetes. He has published extensively in the fields of lipids and lipid disorders, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular risk factors and clinical pharmacology, with over 150 publications and 8 books in diabetes and cardiovascular medicine.
