Dr Michael Bellamy is a Consultant Cardiologist based at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust (Hammersmith), specialising in both Cardiac Imaging/Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology. He also works at private hospitals in London, including HCA Harley Street Clinic, HSC Diagnostic Centre at 16 Devonshire Street and The Wellington Hospital.
Dr Bellamy undertakes general cardiology clinics, seeing patients with all types of cardiology problems, while jointly leading the Imperial Percutaneous Mitral Valve Programme as well as Valve Clinics and Specialist Echocardiography. He also participates in the on-call rota for the West London Heart Attack Centre based at Hammersmith Hospital, performing emergency PCI (stenting) procedures in addition to elective coronary artery disease work.
He performs a large number of cardiac imaging diagnostic procedures including echo, stress echo (exercise and Dobutamine), transoesophageal echo and 3D valve assessments and is accredited with the British Society of Echocardiography and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Dr Bellamy attained subspecialty expertise in both echocardiography / imaging and interventional cardiology, having completed his training in London teaching hospitals as well as 2 International Fellowships abroad, the first at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA (valvular heart disease) and St Vincent's University Hospital, Sydney, Australia (interventional cardiology).
He is actively involved in teaching including undergraduates at Imperial College School of Medicine, Imperial MSc programmes and postgraduate Cardiology trainees. Research interests include valve disease and percutaneous mitral valve interventions/MitraClip.
