Mr Joseph Nunoo-Mensah is Consultant Colorectal & Laparoscopic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital. He performs private work at HCA UK at The Shard and London Bridge Hospital. He specialises in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, tumours of the colon, haemorrhoids, anal fissures and hernias.
He graduated from the University of Nottingham with Bachelor’s degrees in Medical Science (1991) and in Medicine & Surgery (1993). He completed a large portion of his basic surgical training at Oxford and higher surgical training in Manchester. In 1997 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He went on to train in colorectal, laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery at a number of prestigious institutions in America and obtained a Master’s Degree in the Legal Aspects of Medical Practice from Cardiff University in 2003. In 2008, he was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal & Laparoscopic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital.
Mr Nunoo-Mensah is actively involved in research into colorectal diseases and has been published extensively in surgical journals. He has also contributed to chapters in major surgical textbooks in colon and rectal surgery. He is regularly invited to present at international colorectal society meetings such as the American College of Surgeons Meetings. He trains postgraduates in his field and teaches on the National Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Training Programme.
